Feelings of Racism
Why are we subject to racism in
the street?
From the faces of the people we meet.
For us Muslim women you have to beware,
Don't they know we're Allah aware?
For us converted Muslims it is hard today,
For the racism is worse for us this way,
It hurts to see people with this tone of voice,
But then some don't have a choice.
I am married to an Arab and have children too,
Even without Islam it's hard for me and you,
So much hatred and racism in the street,
Who wants this behaviour from our own race we meet?
My children have no choice to ignore this from you,
Sometimes we feel like we're living in a zoo,
Maybe it's the wars in the world we cannot bare,
But what about the other Nations they are all there?
For us Muslim women it's not safe in this world at bay,
People have to harass us and threaten us today,
All we want is peace to live our daily life,
We don't need this trouble and strife.
It's the Hijab that makes a difference or two,
Without covering my beauty I'm just like you,
Putting this on gathers hatred and bad words,
People stare at you in droves and herds.
Even from life long Muslims we see a glare,
On their faces you see bad feelings and words there,
With the chiffon type scarf they seem to wear,
They call us converts for covering their hair.
We have separation from life long Muslims alone,
No wonder us converts feel stressed and on our own,
We Muslims should unite not a line do we divide,
I'm going out there with Allah by my side.
Oh people we are all made the same,
Why do you play this hatred game?
Allah sees no difference in race, creed or colour,
We are all made sisters and brother.
Get to know me before you say these bad things,
Don't you know these are written as your sins?
You will be questioned on Judgement Day,
For hurting us Muslims in this malicious way.
For finding Islam we should be happy and glad,
Not making our lives by you very sad,
For one God we praise and Messenger believe,
Come see the path and truth but do not grieve.
I am a Muslim and I am glad to be too,
I am following Allah and not be ignorant like you,
This is my country and like living in the West,
People's behaviour, I know Islam's the best.
I know that this dunya is a life long test,
But Shaytan has to get you to believe he's the best,
He already has the kafir which he'll depart,
As he goes after the Muslim's heart.
