Motherhood

Motherhood

Life starts with fertilisation of a seed,

This is part of mankind indeed,

Angels work for nine months inside,

Then a soul is sent down, from Allah you cannot hide.

This time has come for you to be born,

In pleasurable pain and may be I'm torn,

When I see your face it's a joy,

I've got a baby is it a girl or a boy?

The months of feeding and nightly calls,

Sometimes I'm tired and feel like I'll fall,

Teething sets in for a month or two,

This only makes me want to cuddle you.

Soon a year has gone and has passed us by,

Now you want to walk and things go up high,

Out of nappies you will soon learn,

Sleeping through the night with a toss and turn,

Years pass quickly with a birthday or two,

It's off to school with a lunch for you,

Friends you make and education in place,

Preparing you darling for the human race.

It seems like yesterday you were my baby unborn,

Shredded nerves, sleepless nights and feeling worn,

Growing up so fast with your own personality,

You'll be soon living in daily reality.

Motherhood is great and you should try it too,

For Allah has trusted you with a gift for you,

For this is what makes the world go round,

Oh, my little baby wrapped up safe and sound.
